Palestine I - The Problem Statement

There are two narratives at play in the Israeli - Palestine conflict, and interestingly they are both centered around victimization.  The Jews persecuted for thousands of years; and the Palestinians displaced from their lands by the Jews declaring the establishment of a Jewish state in 1948 in Palestine.

Since then the narratives have developed and diverged - Israelis speak of their existential and military security; for the Palestinians it is about illegal occupation of the lands that they were given. Israeli Settlements:
  • violate international law
  • prevent the creation of a viable Palestinian state
This image graphically depicts the insidious land grab by the Israelis.

One state is not a solution: The Jews fear being overwhelmed by the greater number of Arabs.  There are now more Palestinians than Jews.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the newly returned Prime Minister has publicly pronounced that he will never support a two state solution.

Instead 11 million Palestinians and Israelis try to live without dealing with each other in an area smaller than Massachusetts.
