Campaigning for Hillary

Alyson and I spent Sunday campaigning for Hillary Clinton.  She spoke at Faneiul Hall.

I was outside (Alyson was inside) and spent 2 and a half hours directing people in the freezing cold.

The rain in Maine stays mainly on the plain

Decided to add to my list of states by visiting New Hampshire and Maine.  The day was wet and cold - typical Maine weather.

Justin, Brooke and I stopped at the New Hampshire Visitor's Center for a photo opportunity.

Goat Island behind me
We only got as far as Kennebunkport, the town that George H Bush (Bush Senior) calls home.  We saw the Bush compound at Walker's Point.  The houses along the Maine coast are spectacular - huge estates.

Justice Stephen Breyer comes to the Kennedy School

Justice Breyer, one of the nine Supreme Court judges of the United States was the special guest at the JFK Forum on Friday night.

Justice Kennedy is an alum of Stanford, Harvard and Oxford and a former professor at both the Harvard Law School and the Kennedy School.

Justice Breyer was witty and urbane, masterfully deflecting questions trying to elicit concessions and  reinterpretations of his judgments.

Louis and the Ladies

Another glorious day for the Head of the Charles Rowing Regatta.

This year I was able to cheer on Louis Gounden Rock, son of my colleague Alyson.  Louis coxed for Yarmouth's 45-55yr old Women's Four.  The crew passed 3 or 4 boats so a good result all round.  The ladies report that Louis did a stellar job.

When Cambridge is the Center of the Universe

Went to two talks on Friday - the first featured Dan Ariely who has just produced a film called Dishonesty.  Dan is a world renowned behavioral expert who has published extensively.  His work includes Predictably Irrational

I then went to see Sherry Turkle talk about her new book Reclaiming Conversation.  Sherry is an MIT professor and has spent 30 years studying the psychology of people’s relationships with technology.

Walden Pond - in color

On Walden Pond - Goin' Wild Massachusett's style

Once upon a time, Henry David Thoreau wanted to escape into nature but....... instead of venturing into the wilds of the Congo to truly test his mettle...... he came to Walden Pond...a mere 30 minute walk from his mummy and daddy....ehem........(and about 10 miles away from Boston) ..oh well, he does make livin' large in the wild sound grand.
In the spirit
of Thoreau I present Walden Pond  - the artsy version.
